Advanced Equine Health Care and Management (11:067:398)

Horse Management (11:067:384) or equivalent course, or permission of instructor.

Format

Class meets once per week. The course will consist of lectures, discussions, video presentations, reading assignments, guest speakers, and oral presentations by students.

Description

This course is designed to educate students to recognize and understand the importance of equine health care and management. The basics of anatomy, the physiology of common clinical conditions, diseases, emergency, and traumatic episodes that occur in the equine profession will be presented. In no way is this course designed to certify or license an individual in the practice of veterinary medicine.

Examinations

The assigned course grade will be based on: Exam 1 (25%); Exam 2 (25%); Final Exam (25%); and an Oral Presentation (25%).
