Topics in Equine Science (11:067:401)

(3 credits)

Typically Offered: Alternating Spring Semester with Equine Nutrition.

Prerequisites and Other Registration Restrictions: Open to Juniors and Seniors or by permission of Dr. McKeever (Bartlett 003, 732-932-9390, mckeever@sebs.rutgers.edu).

Format and Objectives: The course consists primarily of 3 units of lecture/discussion with extensive participation from students.

Description: By the end of this course students will learn to actively participate in the exchange of new ideas and concepts related to equine sport and exercise science. They will also become acquainted with current concepts and research literature related to equine exercise physiology as well as develop critical evaluation skills.

Evaluation: Students will be evaluated based on attendance and participation in the lab, participation in a biweekly journal club style recitation, laboratory journal and notes taken during class, and a term paper.
