Research

My main interests are animal nutrition and/or management. The focus of my research program is to develop feeding and management programs that optimize performance and efficiency in livestock production systems. Significant contributions made in animal nutrition and management include:

  • Developed the concept of degradable/undegradable protein for protein utilization and requirements of ruminant animals
  • Identified and established by-products and wastes of the sea clam processing industry as alternative animal feeds
  • Assessed stresses associated with dehorning and docking of animals
  • Established safety and use of pelleted recycled newspaper as animal bedding
